Ways You Can Protect Your Health Information

CountyCare has policies, procedures, processes, and tools in place to keep your information safe, but we also want to provide you with recommendations that you can use to protect the privacy of your health information.

Tips for Protecting Your Health Information

  • Limit the amount of information you send via text or email. Try not to include Social Security number, copies of your ID, or any other sensitive information.
  • Create unique passwords for your online accounts using a combination of letters, numbers and symbols.
  • Be aware of common phone, email, and text scams that may seek your personal or health information. Don’t share information if you can’t confirm the identity of the person or entity asking for your information.
  • Look for common signs of fake emails including typos, grammatical errors, unexpected or awkward language, extra spaces, missing words, or links to outside content.
