CountyCare Texting
Terms of Service

Your Medicaid health plan, CountyCare, provides a texting program to share information with CountyCare members. CountyCare will send text messages to members like you with (i) educational content about CountyCare coverage, such as your redetermination, open enrollment, opportunities for nagrody, and your benefits; (ii) healthcare content such as information about a recent emergency room visit, new member welcome health risk screenings, and reminders regarding your necessary screenings or tests necessary for your care; and (iii) emergency or urgent content such as messages related to extreme weather events such as tornado warnings and information on cooling or warming centers, and messages that require your immediate attention to maintain your benefits. The messaging frequency will vary.

PERMISSION:  By providing your mobile phone number on your Medicaid application, you give CountyCare permission to send automated text messages to your mobile phone number through CountyCare’s texting program. You will receive CountyCare text messages from short code 84908.

START:  CountyCare will send an initial text message that says something like:

EXAMPLE: Hi from CountyCare, your health plan! {{First Name}}, get ready to renew your Medicaid plan. Find your due date & verify your mailing address at abe.illinois.gov (click Manage My Case) or call 312-864-8200, 711 (TTY/TDD).

Text STOP to unsubscribe. Msg and data rates apply

You may also receive healthcare content messages that says something like:

EXAMPLE: “Hi from CountyCare! It’s important to keep your children up-to-date on their vaccinations. CountyCare providers are still seeing children for vaccinations and well-child visits. Call your provider to schedule an appointment.”

You may also receive emergency content messages that says something like:

EXAMPLE: Hi from CountyCare, your health plan! Summer is here! If you need a break from the heat, cooling centers are open. Find one near you: https://www.cookcountyil.gov/service/cooling-centers

STOP:  You can stop CountyCare text messages from short code 84908 at any time by replying STOP. When you reply STOP, you may get one final CountyCare text message. That message will confirm CountyCare got your STOP request and is stopping text messages to you from short code 84908. If you want to again get text messages from that short code, type START in a text message and send to short code 84908. 

COST:  CountyCare does not charge for its texting program. Your mobile phone carrier may charge message or data rates. Check with your mobile phone carrier for your plan details.

RESPONSIBILITIES:  To get text messages from CountyCare:

HELP:  Reply HELP to a CountyCare text message or call 312-864-8200, 711 (TTY / TDD) to get help with or answers to questions about CountyCare’s texting program.

PRIVACY: Text messages from CountyCare may contain protected health information (PHI). Because text messages are not encrypted, any PHI in a CountyCare text message could be intercepted or seen by a third party, including anyone with access to your mobile phone. TEXTING PROGRAM: These Texting Terms of Service apply to CountyCare members participating in CountyCare’s texting program. CountyCare provides its texting program “as is” and cannot guarantee that CountyCare text messages contain accurate, complete, or current information. You may not be able to get CountyCare text messages in all areas, at all times, or from all mobile phone carriers. CountyCare is not responsible if a text message is not delivered or delayed. Mobile phone carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. 

CHANGES:  CountyCare may end or change the CountyCare texting program or change these Texting Terms of Service at any time. Continuing to take part in CountyCare’s texting program after changes made to the Texting Terms of Service are posted to the CountyCare website means you accept the changes. Please check the Texting Terms of Service posted on the CountyCare website (countycare.com/texts) on a regular basis.
